Blackrivers Fame extended her win streak to four-in-a-row on Sunday afternoon at Clinton Raceway thanks to her narrow score in the $17,400 Spring Cleaning Stake
for filly and mare pacers.
The six-year-old daughter of Justice Denied was a winner in 2:01.3 in the first leg of the claiming series for trainer Kyle Reibeling before being claimed and coming up a winner in leg two of the event for trainer John Peletier. Sunday’s debut for trainer Brian Lawrence proved to be a winning one, but she had to work hard for the money.
Blackrivers Fame, in rein to Scott Zeron for the second week-in-a-row, took full advantage of her pole position starting spot by securing the lead and laying down fractions of :28.3, :58.3 and 1:28.3. She conjured up :30-second speed in the final quarter and that was good enough to win by a neck over Dreamless Hall. More Dreams rounded out the top three.
Bryan Lawrence of Hanover shares ownership on the mare with Stuart Lawrence of Elmira, ON. The victory was her fifth of the season and the 17th of her career. She has banked more than $87,000 to date.
The second leg of the Spring Cleaning Stake for trotters also went postward on Sunday with a trio of $3,200 splits on tap. Reckless (2:05.4), Gretzky Lavec (2:01.4) and Treasure Best (2:03.3) were victorious in their respective assignments.
The top eight money earners throughout the series will have the chance to line up on the starting gate for next Sunday’s $15,400 final.
