Track record holder Smart Shark and trainer/driver Connie Kolthammer took top honours on Saturday afternoon winning this week’s edition of the $5,000 Open Pace

Smart Shark tracked Neal Diamonique (Bill Tainsh, Jr.) from the pocket through panels of :28.4, :59.4 and 1:27.4 before moving up on the attack. The son of Cams Card Shark used a :27.2 final quarter to score in 1:55.2.
Neal Diamonique finished one and three-quarter lengths back in second while Barona Ferrari (John Campbell) rounded out the top three.
Smart Shark now sports a record reading 4-2-1 in 10 starts this year good for nearly $21,000. In his career, the five-year-old ridgling has won nine times and earned $76,781 for the Outlaw Stable of Falun, Alta.
