Outlawpositivcharge was at the top of his game and won the $2,800 Canada Games Pace in an impressive 1:54 flat Saturday afternoon at the Charlottetown Driving Park Entertainment Centre

.

Trainer Terry Gallant did the driving for owner Fred Lamont, Calgary, Atla. Gallant said in a trackside interview following the win that his horse felt great this week.

“He wasn’t himself last week but this week he was strong and I just let him roll,” said Gallant. “He’s back to himself and we’re hoping for a good season.”

Leaving off the rail, Gallant sent Outlawpositivcharg to the lead rolling through fractions of :28.1, :57,2 and 1:25.1. The 2008 Governor’s Plate winner kicked home with a final quarter in :28.4 seconds. Riccaras Sun was second for Kenny Arsenault with Pans O Silver grabbing the show spot for driver Brian MacPhee.

War Dancer captured the $4,600 Young Guns Pacing Final in 1:58 for trainer/driver Michael Stevenson, but it wasn’t easy as the three-year-son of Western Paradise rolled off stride after trying to bust the gate.

“We were leaving pretty hard,” said Stevenson in the winner’s circle. “He just rolled off stride and after I got him back we had our work cut out for us. He’s a nice colt and I was very happy with how he performed today. It wasn’t an easy trip, but I think he proved himself today.”

Pictonian Hector with Jimmy Davis was second with Woodmere Shamis and Darren Crowe finishing third in the final.

War Dancer is owned by Boyd Macdonald Prodce Ltd. of Crapaud, Daniel Ross of Belfast, P.E.I. and Charles Seymour of Fredericton, N.B.
