Unabating rebounded from an off-the-board finish from one week ago to become a two-time winner this month in the $6,950 Winners Over Handicap Trot at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Sunday night, May 22.

Unabating, who last won the top trotting class on the front-end on May 8 in his return race from a three-month layoff, played a game of "follow the leader" this week as he tracked Rocky Boy through panels of :27.2, :57.3 and 1:26.1 before edging ahead of that foe in the final strides. The Gerard Demers trainee prevailed by a neck in 1:55.3, earning his 21st career win and sending his bankroll over $221,000. Catheline Pelletier owns the eight-year-old Broadway Hall gelding, who paid $3.60 to win as the 4-5 favourite. Raising Richard followed one and three-quarter lengths behind in third.

Curator, the 9-5 favourite from the inside post, lasted on the lead in the $6,500 Winners Over Handicap pacing division for driver Brett MacDonald and trainer/owner Jamie Copley, producing a $5.90 win payout. The eight-year-old gelded son of American Ideal kept first over challenger Officially Rusty at bay as he carved out fractions of :28.2, :58 and 1:26 en route to the 1:54.1 score. The win was his second in a row at Rideau and 31st lifetime, bumping his income over $280,000. Officially Rusty stayed for second, finishing one and three-quarter lengths behind the winner, while Aarons Mattjesty came on for third.
