Waasmula earned her second consecutive victory in the $30,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace at Woodbine Racetrack with another front-end effort on Friday night.
Leaving from post four again, and with Trevor Henry in the sulky for back-to-back starts, Waasmula took the lead into the first turn and led the top mares through fractions of :26.4, :55.4, and 1:24.3 en route to her 22nd career victory in 1:52 flat. The 4-5 favourite paid $3.60 to win. American In Paris (Chris Christoforou) and Request For Parol (Mario Baillargeon) rallied off cover from the backfield to finish second and third, respectively.
The seven-year-old daughter of Million Dollar Cam, who boasts 12 top three finishes in 14 starts this year, is trained by Bruce Goit for owner/breeder Brent Vincent of Allenford, Ont. Friday's win pushed her seasonal earnings over the $100,000 mark while her career bankroll climbed to $672,160.
Also a winner last Friday night, the Victor Puddy-trained claiming pacer Twin B Wrangler ($6.90) gave Henry back-to-back wins on the 12-race card. Mohawk's meet leading driver Jody Jamieson also scored a pair of consecutive victories splitting Sylvain Filion's driving double.
