Northside Downs’ Saturday afternoon $1,000 Winners Over Pace went to Shifty Shadow, who was number one all the way to the wire for trainer-driver Edgar Jacobs

Shifty Shadow left from Post 1 and carved out fractions of :29.1, :59.1 and 1:29 en route to his first victory of the season in three starts. The 5-2 third choice turned back challenges from Dvc Done Good (Greg Sparling) and Sir Dutch (Bruce McGean) before tripping the teletimer in 2:00.1. Last week’s winner and runner-up followed him under the wire; Dvc Done Good finished one length behind and Cruisinart (Ryan Campbell) rounded out the top three.

Shifty Shadow paid $7.50 to win. Dan Lewis of Blacketts Lake, NS owns the seven-year-old gelded son of Albert Albert-Dax, who has won 27 times over the course of his career for earnings totaling $71,414.

Odyssey Killean, a 10-year-old son of Run The Table owned by Tommy Baker of Black Rock and Steven Lewis of Millville, NS, also notched his first seasonal score for trainer-driver Edgar Jacobs, winning in 2:01.2.
