The 13th edition of the Hoosier Cup, which is scheduled for Saturday, May 30 at Hoosier Park, is quickly

beginning to take shape.

A total of 86 three-year-olds are on the list of nominees, and they’ll have a chance to share in the $500,000 (est.) purse. For the first time ever, the Hoosier Cup will be carded as a matinee event.

Included in the list of hopefuls for this year’s Hoosier Cup is World Record-holder Sheer Desire. The son of Real Desire will race this Saturday in the Max C. Hempt Memorial at Pocono Downs.

Other hopefuls include Berry's Creek winner Annieswesterncard and Standupnkissme, who recently turned in a 1:51.1 victory at Hoosier Park.

The Hoosier Cup is being held one month earlier this season. This year will mark the final year that the race will be contested with eliminations and a final all in the same afternoon if more than 12 horses enter the event.

Hoosier Park's other signature event is the $200,000 Dan Patch Invitational Pace, which is set for Saturday, June 20. The 80-day Standardbred meet will conclude Saturday, July 11 with the Million Dollar Indiana Championship Day, featuring all finals for the Indiana Sires Stakes and purses will reach the $1 million mark. The afternoon of racing will be followed by a special outdoor evening performance by The Beach Boys beginning at 8 p.m.
