Standardbred Canada (SC) is pleased to announce its participation at Salon du Cheval & Cie 2026 in partnership with the Quebec Jockey Club (QJC).
The highly anticipated Salon du Cheval & Cie, Quebec’s premier equine showcase, will take place from May 22-24 at the Espace Saint-Hyacinthe in Saint-Hyacinthe, Que. The three-day event will bring together horse enthusiasts, industry professionals and the general public for an immersive equine experience featuring exhibitions, demonstrations, conferences and activities celebrating all aspects of the equine world.
Visitors to the SC/QJC booths will have the opportunity to enjoy Standardbred Canada’s popular virtual reality experience, allowing them to step into the sulky and experience the thrill of harness racing firsthand.
Complementing the virtual reality, the Quebec Jockey Club, the Association Trot et Amble du Québec (ATAQ) and the Circuit Régional des Courses de Chevaux du Québec (CRCCQ) will each have their own booths and will showcase two Standardbred racehorses -- 16-year-old The Real One, a longtime Open standout at Yonkers Raceway and career winner of 74 races and nearly $1.7 million, and 10-year-old gelded warhorse, Lets Get Pickled, who is still actively racing. Shares in Lets Get Pickled will be available for purchase during the Salon.
Legendary French horseman, Jean-Pierre Dubois, 85, who is a two-time winner of the Prix D’Amerique as a driver (1979, 1982) and renowned international breeder and pioneer of mixing Standardbred and Thoroughbred bloodlines, will also be in attendance. After a 15-year hiatus, Dubois recently made his return to the winner's circle at Oak Grove on April 14, 2026.
"This partnership highlights the strong collaboration between Standardbred Canada and the Quebec Jockey Club," said Guillaume Cayer-Richard, Standardbred Canada director and general manager of the Quebec Jockey Club. "We are excited to work together to promote harness racing and the Standardbred breed to a wide audience at this outstanding event."
Darryl Kaplan, President and CEO of Standardbred Canada, added: “We are thrilled to partner with the Quebec Jockey Club and participate at Salon du Cheval & Cie. This event provides an outstanding platform to introduce the excitement of harness racing and the Standardbred breed to a broad audience, including many young people and families. By offering our immersive virtual reality experience alongside live horse interactions, we continue to expand our youth outreach initiatives and inspire the next generation of equine enthusiasts and participants.'”
Standardbred Canada and the Quebec Jockey Club invite all horse lovers, families and racing fans to visit their joint booth during the event. Admission and event details are available on the official event website.
