Alfie Carroll wasted no time in setting up shop on the lead with Don Mcwhite in Monday’s $8,500 Preferred 3 for horse and gelding pacers at The Raceway at Western Fair District, and the odds-on favourite responded by turning in a front-end score.
Don Mcwhite blazed his way through fractions of :28, :57.3 and 1:25.3 before sealing the deal with a :28.4 closing quarter. He won by 2-1/2 lengths over Littlebitaswagger in 1:54.2. Master Smile rounded out the Trifecta ticket.
Trainer Corey Johnson co-owns the five-year-old son of Mcardle-Banska Bela with Sergis Racing Stable LLC of Canton, NY. The partners watched the pacer improved this year’s record to 5-0-1 from 13 attempts, while his lifetime win total climbed to 19. He’s stashed away more than $135,000 in career earnings.
