Lisagain Equals National Season's Record

A powerful performance by Lisagain in Saturday night's $35,000 Preferred Pace at Mohawk Racetrack not only marked the track's first sub-1:50 mile of the season, it also equaled the fastest mile in Canada this year

.

With Sylvain Filion aboard, Lisagain was quickest off the gate and assumed early command while Dalhousie Dave (Scott Zeron) sat the pocket and Alexie Mattosie (Paul MacDonell) begrudgingly sat in the three hole through a :26.3 opener. MacDonell right-lined his charge from third and paced to the front as Lisagain relinquished the lead. After a :54.3 half and as the field hit the far turn, Kindly Poet (Steve Condren) came with a rush out of fifth to stimulate some flow. That move prompted Lisagain to edge off the pylons through a 1:22.3 third panel to challenge the pacesetter.

As the pacers headed into the stretch, Lisagain powered past Alexie Mattosie and opened up daylight on the field under moderate Filion reminders. The timer was tripped in a slick 1:49.1, marking Mohawk's first sub-1:50 mile of the year and equaling the national season's mark set in the 2011 Cam Fella Final by Meirs Hanover. Dalhousie Dave and Alexie Mattosie completed the triactor.

Lisagain (Dragon Again - Lisheen) is trained by Erv Miller, who co-owns the five-year-old horse with Mystical Marker Farms LLC of Dyer, Ind., D And M Trading II LLC, of Chicago and Mary Jane Anderson of Long Grove, Ill. The win was his third in nine starts this year; of those starts six have come in Canada and he has never finished worse than second.
