Rose Run Keepsake By A Nose

Rose Run Keepsake survived an eventful journey Friday at The Meadows to earn a narrow victory in the $25,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Trot

.

While Im Justa Lady and Toms OK Lady vied for the early lead, Rose Run Keepsake idled on the outside, finally clearing to the front past the quarter. That early effort may have fatigued her, as she bore out in the stretch, allowing the two early leaders to dive inside and whittle away her 2-1/2-length margin. But the determined Rose Run Keepsake beat Im Justa Lady to the wire by a nose in 1:55.2, with Toms OK Lady a neck back in third.

Randy Bendis trains Rose Run Keepsake, a four-year-old daughter of Armbro Laser-Suchanicegirl who triumphed for the 25th time in 49 career starts, and owns with Diane Novosel, Reed Broadway and James Walton.
