The six-year-old son of American Ideal-Kissing Bandit took on six others in Friday’s top class – the $2,500 Winners Over Pace – at Truro’s half-mile oval, and he parlayed a pocket trip into his fourth consecutive victory.
Andrew Campbell dropped into the two-hole with American Risk while Rusty Riley sliced out fractions of :27.2, :56.4 and 1:26.4 before being hauled down in the late stages of the mile. Campbell found clearance for American Risk and the gelding punched home in :30.1 to stop the teletimer in 1:57.1. It was 1-3/4 length back to runner-up Rusty Riley, with the show dough going to Johnnywalkerdelux.
Sent off as the 1-2 favourite, the George Rennison trainee won for the 20th time in his career while pushing his lifetime earnings over $80,000 for the Risky Bizz Group of Truro, N.S.
Veteran horseman Danny Romo had a productive day at the office thanks to the three-win performance by horses from his barn. He kicked off the card winning with Tory Time (1:59.4), and he added victories with Imalookertoo (1:57.4) in Race 4 and then Woodmere Denver (2:00.3) in Race 5.
