Chat Chat trotted her way into the harness racing record books on Sunday night with a Rideau Carleton Raceway track record performance in her conditioning assignment

.

With Guy Gagnon in the sulky, Chat Chat fired to command from her outside post seven starting spot and carved out fractions of :28.2, :57.4 and 1:25.4 before holding off the pocket-pulling favourite, Rose Run Hooligan and Simon Allard, by half a length for the 1:55 career-best victory. The time of the mile shaved two-fifths of a second off the track record for older trotting mares, which was set by Countess Stormont. Max Money and Denis St. Pierre finished five lengths behind in third.

Gerard Demers trains the five-year-old Angus Hall-Breathe Easy mare for 9174 7998 Quebec Inc. of Blainville, Que.

Chat Chat, who made headlines for stringing together 12 wins in a row earlier this year, is on a current three-race win streak.

The 2-1 second choice returned $6.50 to her backers for a $2 win ticket.
