Four eliminations for three-year-old trotters for the 2010 Empire Breeders Classic have been drawn and will headline Vernon Downs' Saturday, May 22 card of live racing (6:55 post time). There will be two $12,500 divisions for each fillies and colts.
The colts will go postward in Race 3 and 6. The third race pits last year’s two-year-old New York Sire Stakes final winner Blacktuxwhitesocks against six worthy foes, while the second division will see Simpson Memorial winner and new track record holder Whata Winner take on New Jersey invaders Stimulus, Celebrity Bluechip and Shaq Is Back.
Filly-wise, Impressive Kemp will try to move forward off an effortless score in last week’s Simpson in Race 4. Race 8 finds nine evenly matched young ladies, the most accomplished being Munis Blue Chip who was the 2009 NYSS final champ for her gender.
The EBC finals will be a part of an afternoon card on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31. The final purses, sponsored by the Agriculture & New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund, New York Stallion Owners, and Tioga and Vernon Downs will be $235,900 for the colts and $234,900 for the fillies.
