O'Brien Award winner Intimidate earned his second charted line of the season during Thursday's qualifiers at Rideau Carleton Raceway, and for the second week-in-a-row it was a winning effort for the Luc Blais trainee.
With Yves Filion at the lines, the four-year-old son of Justice Hall-Fabulous Tag sat parked through first-half fractions of :29.4 and :59.3 before getting down to the rail and catching some cover at the three-quarter pole in 1:30. Intimidate used a :30.2 closing quarter to win by three-quarters of a length in 2:00.4. He won his first qualifier of the season on April 25 in 2:01.1.
Judith Farrow of Hemmingford and Les Ecuries Luc Blais Inc of Lochaber Ouest, QC own the 14-time winner, who has won both of his qualifiers without trotting hopples - a piece of equipment he raced with last season. The career winner of $418,590 capped off a brilliant sophomore campaign with his dramatic victory in the $546,987 Breeders Crown Three-Year-Old Colt and Gelding Trot final.
