S-Bred Owner Has 'Derby' Starter

The post position draw for the 138th running of the Kentucky Derby took place on Wednesday in Louisville

, Kentucky.

The 1-1/4 mile race on the dirt for three-year-old thoroughbreds will take place on Saturday, May 5 at Churchill Downs and will feature a field of 20 including Ill Have Another, owned by former Windsor, Ontario standardbred owner J. Paul Reddam. Ill Have Another, winner of the Robert B. Lewis and Santa Anita Derby prep races, drew post 19 and has been assessed at odds of 12-1 in the morning line. Trained by Doug O'Neill, Ill Have Another will be ridden by Hastings Racecourse's leading jockey Mario Gutierrez.

Multiple Sovereign Award winning trainer Mark Casse will start Prospective from post 12 at odds of 30-1. Woodbine Racetrack's leading jockey Luis Contreras is listed to ride along.

Bodemeister, trained by three-time Derby winner Bob Baffert and named for Baffert's seven-year-old son Bode, was assessed as the early morning line favourite at odds of 4-1 and will start from post six. Baffert, who suffered a heart attack at the end of March, will also send out post 20 starter Liason.
