Sounding Wins CDP Feature; Shadow Play Takes The Stage

Sounding, with Ron Matheson in the bike, won the Saturday afternoon feature in 1:58.4 at the Charlottetown Driving Park Entertainment Centre while Shadow Play took to the track for a special work out mile during the 12-race program

Victory Creed and driver Brian Andrew left from Post 4 to grab the lead while Sounding, owned by Blair Kelly Stratford, settled into the pocket and followed the pace setter through fractions of :28.1, :59.3 and 1:30.1 before mounting a challenge through deep stretch to win. The brown gelding by Hunterstown is two for two. Victory Creed was second for owner Bill Andrew, Calgary, Alta. while newcomer Royal Millennium finished third for trainer-driver Jason Hughes.

Stars Xample took the back-up class in 1:59 for driver Terry Gallant and owner Catherine MacNeil, Glace Bay, N.S. Gallant also connected with Lonestar Fighter in the seventh race for trainer Alan Sweet, O’Leary.

Dr. Ian Moore also recorded a driving double on the day aboard Thunderfist and Justin Art. The award winning trainer showcased Little Brown Jug winner Shadow Play after Race 5 with an official work out mile in front of a large crowd. The World Champion stopped the timer in 1:53.4.

The Countdown to the Cup continues next Saturday. Post time is 1 p.m.
