Former Ontario Sires Stakes Gold champion Surrealist converted a pocket trip into a narrow victory in his Nova Scotia debut over Sir Dutch in Saturday afternoon's featured $1,000 Winners Over Pace during Northside Downs opening card of the season

.

With co-owner Randy Getto in the sulky, six-year-old Surrealist settled in behind the duelling leaders, Sir Dutch (Bruce McGean) and Lils Destiny (John Hawco), after a post seven start. The top two battled through opening fractions of :28.1 and :57.1 before Sir Dutch rebuffed his challenger and reached three-quarters in 1:27 with a three length lead over Surrealist. However, Surrealist came charging home to nab the victory in 1:56.3 by a neck. Woodmere Westerner (Greg Sparling) finished just a half-length back in third.

The Modern Art-Keeping Secrets gelding paid $7.80 to win as the 3-1 third choice. Randy Getto co-owns the bay pacer with Wayne Hardy of Sydney, N.S.

The victory was trainer Dana Getto's 100th lifetime. For Surrealist, it was his 11th career win and put his earnings at $243,744.
