Trainer Cameron Capone swept both the early and late Daily Double on Sunday's nine-race card at Tioga Downs.
Capone's four winning trainees included Paul Kautz's BB Lucky Boy ($5.50) in the featured $15,278 conditioned pace. Looking for his third straight Tioga tally, favourite BB Lucky Boy darted right to the front and led at every call through panels of :27.1, :55 and 1:23.2 en route to the 1:52.1 victory. Braxten Boyd drove the six-year-old Luck Be Withyou-Lets Go B B gelding, who finished 2-3/4 lengths ahead of Comet Crusader N (Jim Pantaleano) and Braeview Bondi A (Tom Merton).
Prior to BB Lucky Boy's victory, stablemate Vandiemen Bluechip ($2.80) romped to a seven-length win in the opener, pacing a career-best 1:51 mile with Colin Kelly in the sulky. Kautz also owns that popular winner, in partnership with Samir Tawil, Nathan Fullmer and Alexander Henn.
Boyd, who had a driving grand slam on Sunday, also teamed with Capone and Kautz for a late card triumph with veteran pacer Passa Grille Beach ($4.60) in 1:54.1.
A new addition to his stable this month, trotter Fashion Cantab ($10.20) completed Capone's winning quartet with a 6-3/4-length score in 1:57.4 in rein to Andrew Adamczyk for owner Jaypaul Hoover.
The early Daily Double paid $9.60 while the late Double returned $36.40.
Capone, who started training in 2022, now has 68 career wins.
