Guy Gagnon took the spotlight at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday evening (May 18) after driving his trainee Seeyou Men to victory in the $10,000 Preferred Handicap Trot and leading three to the winner's circle for trainer Mandy Archer.
Seeyou Men and Gagnon took the early lead through the first quarter in :28.1 before favoured Donatover (Stephane Brosseau) took over. Gagnon stayed in second with his trainee through the half in :57.4 and three-quarters in 1:26.1. Down the stretch, Seeyou Men passed Donatover to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:56. Raising Rusty (Stephane Pouliot) was third. Seeyou Men paid $5.20 to win.
Owned by Catheline Pelletier and Chantal Gravel, Seeyou Men is an 11-year-old career earner of $456,462 with a record of 44-56-31 in 200 starts. This season, the son of Muscle Mass now has three wins and two seconds in six starts.
Mandy Archer posted three training wins on the Thursday card with Gettin Serious ($5), Getyourlicenseliam ($9.10) and Private Scott ($2.70). All three were driven to victory by Gagnon, giving him four driving wins on the day.
