After kicking off his 2019 campaign with three consecutive runner-up performances in Truro Raceway's top class, Catch Twenty Two landed in the winner's circle on Friday evening (May 17).

Shanghai B G was first away in the $1,675 Winners Over Pace, but Distinctiv Rusty looped to the lead by the :28.2 quarter mark. As he continued to front the field of six, Catch Twenty Two, who was sent postward as the 3-5 favourite from the inside post position, began to advance first-up at the :58.3 half-mile mark. He moved from third to second in pursuit of Distinctiv Rusty through three-quarters in 1:28 and collared that foe in the straightaway en route to a 1-1/2-length victory in 1:58.4. Distinctiv Rusty was second-best, finishing just ahead of Shanghai B G, who held on for show honours in a three-across finish for third.

Darren Crowe trains and drives the six-year-old Roll With Joe gelding, who hit the board in half of his 30 starts last year. Catch Twenty Two now sports 13 wins on his lifetime record and more than $40,000 in earnings. He is owned by William Shearer, Robert Siteman and Charles Piper Jr.
