A deep and well-travelled field will line up in the feature on the Victoria Day opener at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway on Monday, May 19, with Brookdale Johnny making his Island return against a strong cast.

First post time for the 13-dash card is 1 p.m. (ADT), with Race 11 carrying a $4,250 purse for the top class of the day.

Brookdale Johnny ships in from Woodbine Mohawk Park and has been installed as the 5-2 morning line favourite from post five with Paul Langille picking up the catch-driving call for trainer Phil Sizer and the Doug Polley Sr. and Jr. ownership group. A winner of more than $130,000 lifetime, the son of Rockin In Heaven was a sharp third in 1:52 his last start in Ontario.

Bacononabiscuit (Adam Merner) has post four and could spoil the Summerside debut for the Ontario invader. The pacer has been competing in tougher company and looms a big threat in this group.

Middleton Terror makes his 2025 debut with David Dowling in the bike from post three for trainer Jennifer Doyle. The Stonebridge Terror gelding was a top contender on the Island racing circuit last year and had a sharp qualifier in 1:57.3.

Rose Run X Con (Norris Rogers) makes his first start for the Nick Oakes stable and lands post two in his first East Coast appearance after a long campaign at Yonkers Raceway. He shows a mark of 1:52.1 taken at Northfield Park and more than $220,000 in earnings.

Braxtons Boy leaves from post one with Ken Murphy driving for trainer Richard Armstrong. The five-year-old was second in his last start over a sloppy track in Charlottetown.

The Backstretch Beat gives the nod to the class dropper from Ontario.

“Brookdale Johnny has been successfully racing the toughest circuit in Canada for the first part of 2025. Comes into this one off a mile in 1:52 so he demands to be placed on top. The Langille/Sizer combination saw the winner’s circle all kinds last season and we say it happens again.”
