The board of directors of the Prince Edward Island Standardbred Horse Owners Association recently held its first monthly meeting of the new racing season.

Newly elected to the board from the Annual General Meeting in April were Cindy MacDonald and Allison Ramsay.

Cindy MacDonald has operated a very busy and successful racing stable at her own farm in Monatague, PEI for many years. She is a familiar face in the ship-in areas of both the Charlottetown and Summerside tracks and is a true fan of our sport. In previous years, she was actively involved in the operational side of racing, as a board member of both the PEISHOA and Harness Racing PEI. The PEISHOA is very pleased that MacDonald is willing to volunteer both her time and knowledge of the many aspects of harness racing to our board.

Allison Ramsay has also been involved in the industry for many years as an owner. In his professional life, he holds an MBA and works with the self-employment department of Innovation PEI. He also lectures in the School of Business at the University of PEI. He has a farm in North Winsloe where he and his family are active in the daily care of their horses. Allison has been a keen and avid supporter of our sport and has some excellent ideas with respect to marketing and promotion. We look forward to his contribution to our board.

The executive positions of the PEISHOA were also selected and are as follows:

Dr Colleen Dickie, President
Kerry Taylor, Vice President
Peter Smith, Treasurer
Betty Gregan, Secretary

Directors:

Vernon MacDonald
Lowell Stead
Tom Clark
Gail MacDonald
Eldred Nicholson
Allison Ramsay
Cindy MacDonald
Fred Paynter

The PEISHOA is thankful that we once again have and excellent group of volunteers willing to dedicate their time and effort on behalf of our members.
