Millionaire Marloe Hanover held off the Lightning Lane surge of Fighting Evil to capture the $26,301 Filly & Mare Open Handicap Pace — her third win in the last four starts — on Wednesday, May 15 at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
Marloe Hanover grabbed the lead in a contested :27.1 opening panel, but when Dave Palone gave her a :29 second-quarter breather, the seven-year-old daughter of Captaintreacherous-Mesmerize Bluechip had plenty left for the drive. She downed the pocket-sitting Fighting Evil by three-quarter lengths in 1:51.2 while High Flyin Filly rallied for show.
Virgil Morgan Jr. trains Marloe Hanover, who now boasts a lifetime bankroll of $1,222,224, for Let It Ride Stables Inc. and Odds On Racing.
Aaron Merriman, Ronnie Wrenn Jr. and trainers Nathan Bresnahan and Mark Goldberg each enjoyed a double.
Live harness racing at The Meadows continues on Thursday, May 16, with first post at 12:45 p.m.
