Leaving from post position No. 6, "Biggeorge" tracked the second move of the lass Victors Vicky (Cat Manzi), the later engaging 4-5 choice Lavec Dream (Jordan Stratton). The favourite was about to wear out his welcome in and out of the final turn.
"Vicky" grabbed the lead, but the better trip and bigger check went to Hurrikanebiggeorge. He edged away by a half-length in a season's-best :57.2. Bad Boy Billy (Pat Lachance), Justa Rebel (Ryan Anderson) and Shoeless White Sox (Jeff Gregory) grabbed the small change. Lavec Dream faded to sixth.
For Hurrikanebiggeorge, a four-year-old Tagliabue gelding trained by John McDermott for Hurrikane Racing, he returned $11 (third choice) for his fourth win in 11 seasonal starts. The exacta paid $53.50, with the triple returning $269.50.
Friday night's co-featured $37,000 Filly and Mare Open Handicap Pace saw another second-up trip get Cheyenne Trish (Brent Holland) over her tow, in this case Western Graduate (Jim Pantaleano).
"Trish," starting from post No. 3, advanced behind thae second move of Western Graduate as that one attacked the pace-setting Chris Cross (Lachance).
Chris Cross had a length-and-a-half lead into the lane, but faltered. Western Graduate was resurgent, but could not stall the lady on her back. "Trish" won by a nose in a season-best 1:53.2, with 19-10 choice Symphony In Motion (Gregory) closing well to grab third. Soiree (Stratton) and Twin Oaks Tess (Jason Bartlett) completed the cashers.
For Cheyenne Trish, a five-year-old daughter of Artiscape leased by the Cheyenne Gang and trained by Robbie Siegelman, she returned $9.30 (second choice) for her fifth win in 18 '10 tries. The exacta paid $78, with the triple returning $272.
