On Saturday, May 16, Barber Pole, River Shark, Chasin Racin, Arctic Warrior and Dan Carter will head up a field of talented three-year-old pacing colts and geldings that will be converging on Pocono Downs for the eliminations for the Max C. Hempt Memorial Pace.

Three $25,012 elims have been drawn. The top three finishers from each elim will move on to the $300,140 final, to be contested Saturday, May 23.

Race 7 on the 16-race Pocono card will feature Arctic Warrior, coming off a third-place finish in the $230,000 final of the Berry’s Creek at the Meadowlands, along with Dan Carter, who recently swept the Mohegan Pace finals with a 1:50.3 clocking over the five-eighths mile oval. Johnny Z and 2009 Matts Scooter victor Chasin Racin will compete as a entry in the dash from the barn of trainer George Teague, Jr.

Barber Pole -- the subject of a recent Trot Insider exclusive -- will contest the second elim, carded as Race 9. Schoolkids, ranked as the 25-1 tenth choice in Trot Magazine's 2009 Pepsi North America Cup Spring Book, will also partake in the second elim.

The third elim (Race 11) will feature Sheer Desire, the 12-1 fifth choice in Trot's Spring book.
