Many of her rivals will be in action during the SBOA eliminations at Woodbine Mohawk Park, but O'Brien Award winner Prohibition Legal instead made an appearance during the Friday (May 13) qualifiers this morning.

The daughter of Big Jim - Catch A Wish wasn't quite ready for the stakes action this weekend after just one qualifier, so her connections had her back in at Mohawk for a second tightener in advance of a divisional title defence. Driver James MacDonald settled Prohibition Legal into second in her morning test behind early leader Better Catch Girl (Jody Jamieson). After a :29.3 opener, the field of fillies straightened up down the backside and Prohibition Legal emerged from the pocket eager to press on. She landed on the lead just after the :58.2 half and then she found another gear. With the third panel reached in 1:26.3 some two lengths the best, a :26.2 final quarter expanded that margin to nearly seven with the mile timed in 1:53.

Nick Gallucci trains Prohibition Legal for owner-breeder Millar Farms of Stoufville, Ont. The award winner sports a 8-1-0 summary from nine career starts with a mark of 1:50.4 and more than $564,000 in earnings.

Stakes winning pacer Enavant was also impressive during his second appearance of the season. With regular pilot Bob McClure at the controls, Enavant did all the work in his test with a gate-to-wire 1:53.3 score. He paced home in :28 with no urging from McClure, drifting into the two path but keeping his foes nearly three lengths in arrears.

Luc Blais trains Enavant (Somebeachsomewhere - Lady Be Great) for Determination of Montreal and Guy Corbeil of Mirabel, Que. The stakes winner comes into 2022 with a summmary of 16-4-2 from 26 starts and more than $243,000 in earnings.
