It has been reported that legendary Thoroughbred announcer Tom Durkin will be retiring one week after this year’s Travers Stakes at Saratoga Race Course.

Durkin – who also called harness races at the Meadowlands Racetrack for nine years and has called 10 Hambletonians – will call his last race at Saratoga on August 31, according to an article by CBS 6 Albany.

This season will be Durkin’s 24th year calling the live action at Saratoga.
