Whats Goin On (Claude Huckabone III, $4.50) took the featured $7,000 top-level pace on Sunday (May 12) at Vernon Downs.
After stalking Seel The Deal N (Jennifer Lappe) through early fractions of :27.4, :58.3 and 1:28.4, Whats Goin On took the lead at the top of the stretch. Heaven Rocks (Jimmy Whittemore) came flying late but Whats Goin On dug in deep and would not be denied, winning in 1:56.4. Heaven Rocks settled for second and I Am Golden (Ronald Harp) finished third.
Whats Goin On, a five-year-old gelding by Roll With Joe, took his fifth win this season for trainer David Russo and owners Marissa and Joseph Russo. He now has 15 career victories.
Adam Capizzano, Claude Huckabone Jr. and Roman Lopez all had driving doubles.
