Driver Guy Gagnon and trainer Jamie Copley thrived on opening night at Kawartha Downs Saturday, May 11, with Gagnon driving five winners on the 10-race card and Copley conditioning three.

Gagnon steered all of Copley's winners starting with favourite Wild Dorothy ($5.00), who rushed three wide to a three-length victory in 1:57.3, in the opener. Finevineofsunshine ($4.10) later wired her competition in 1:59.2 and The Roadies ($4.30) ranged first over to complete Copley's hat trick with a 1:54.1 score.

Aside from Copley trainees, Gagnon also steered his own pupil Playin For Keeps ($3.50) to a 1:57.2 victory. He then went wire to wire with Jetcrest ($3.00) to get his fifth victory on the night by a nose in 1:59.
