A dream trip for Beachy Dream resulted in a win in the featured $12,000 Class AA Open Handicap Pace at Buffalo Raceway on Saturday, May 11.
Charmbo Orbit set the fractions with splits of :28.4, :57.1 and 1:26.2. Drafting along in second, Beachy Dream wiggled free and won the charge to the finish line in 1:54.4 against China Dream, who shot through the passing lane late. Harry Hoo N took third.
"I was able to squeeze out just in time," driver Kevin Cummings said. "Midway down the stretch, I knew it was going to be a battle with China Dream. I knew I had it at the line."
Owned by Mike Torcello and trained by Gerry Sarama, it was the fourth victory in 13 tries for Beachy Dream. The eight-year-old If I Can Dream-Beachy Girl gelding has now produced $32,045 in winnings this season and $212,185 in his career.
Littlebitaclass took the first $10,000 Class A Pace and won his second straight by sneaking past Manceiver in the shadow of the wire to win by a neck in 1:54.1.
Driven by Drew Monti, Littlebitaclass is an eight-year-old Santanna Blue Chip-Aspirine Semalu gelding that is owned by Tessa Roland and trained by JD Perrin. It was his fourth win in 16 starts, jacking his seasonal earnings to $25,685 and $207,055 lifetime.
The second bracket saw Low Card lead from start to finish and post a length triumph over Raylan Givens in 1:57.0.
Driven by Ron Beback Jr. and trained by James Clouser Jr., the six-year-old Cams Card Shark-Low Country Love gelding has now found the winner's circle four times in 16 outings for owner William Emmons. The victory upped his bankroll to $26,462 in 2019 and $153,884 lifetime.
Beback Jr., Jim Morrill Jr. and Monti all produced two driving wins on the night. Perrin finished with a training double.
Racing will continue on Wednesday evening, May 15 with a nine-race program set for 5 p.m.
