Cheyenne J and I Hear Voices found their way to victory lane in their respective divisions of Friday’s BC Sires Stakes at Fraser Downs, and that was much to the delight of the favourite players.

Sent off as the 4-5 choice in the lone split for fillies and mares, Cheyenne J went to the front and didn’t look back in her $25,000 tilt. The four-year-old daughter of Youdontknowjack-Carson Jane sprinted to the top from Post 4 for trainer/driver Dave Hudon, who then hustled her through panels of :27.2, :56.4 and 1:24.4. She used a :29.2 closing quarter to deliver the knockout punch to the five foes she faced. She won by 3-3/4 lengths over Yarhos in a career-best clocking of 1:54.1. Slow And Easy completed the Triactor ticket.

Bill Boden of Vancouver, BC bred and owns the speedy distaffer, who won for the third time this season and for the seventh time in her career. The $12,500 payday boosted her seasonal earnings to $35,496 while her lifetime bankroll climbed to $120,867.

I Hear Voices, who was sent off as a 4-5 favourite in the lone division for the colts and geldings, rallied for a narrow score in a time of 1:56.1. Jim Marino got away third from Post 3 with the four-year-old son of Kents On Nuke-Gabrielle Hall, who watched Getmethruthenite slice out fractions of :28, :57.3 and 1:26.4. I Hear Voices launched a first-over bid on the way to the three-quarter pole, and thanks to a :29.1 closing panel he managed to produce a half-length score over Thieving Magpie. Steve O tagged along to finish third.

Ty O’Neill, who trains the homebred for the J J J Stables of Aldergrove, BC, watched the pacer win for the second week-in-a-row. The win improves the gelding’s 2013 record to 4-7-3 from 16 trips to the track and the lion’s share of the purse helped his seasonal bankroll jump to $41,446. The eight-time winner has now stashed away career earnings of $88,183.
