
Twin B Tuffenuff was back and meant business in the Saturday evening, May 10 feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The rain was heavy by times on Prince Edward Island on Saturday but the Red Shores track crew was up to the task as racing conditions remained favourable at the Capital oval. Making his season's debut, Twin B Tuffenuff ($2.10) won the $4,300 feature in 1:56.4 with a one-second variant. Gilles Barrieau was in the race bike for the front-end score, with fractions of :28.1, :58.1 and 1:28.2, over Jewels Dragon (Marc Campbell) and Shadows Terror (Adam Merner). Ron Matheson trains the winning 10-year-old son of Rock N Roll Heaven-In The Pink for Pat Morris of Charlottetown.
Jennifer Doyle's stable was the hot commodity on the 14-race card as she teamed up with driver David Dowling for a trio of victories. The partnership clicked with the Doyle-owned pacing mare Shake N Blake ($4.90) in 1:58.3 as well as the Jennifer Ritchie-owned pacers Mantario ($4.40) in 1:59 and Like A King ($22.30) in 1:57.3.
Woodmere Rocketman ($3.40) remains undefeated on the season after a 1:57.3 win for trainer/driver Barrieau and owner Daniel Ross of Vernon Bridge, P.E.I. The three-year-old son of Bet The Moon-Wild Ride Hanover has a been a two-time winner in 2025 from as many starts.
Newcomer Sports Teller ($3.40) has been superb since coming to P.E.I. as Hughes drove the son of Sportswriter-Donttellruss to a 1:57.4 victory for his second straight win from the Adam Merner barn. Rebecca MacLeod co-owns with Gabby MacNevin, Mike Arsenault and Joey Farrell.
Live harness racing continues on Thursday, May 15 and Saturday, May 17 at Red Shores Charlottetown. Red Shores Summerside gears up for opening day on a special Victoria Day program coming on the afternoon of May 19.
