Frondeur and driver Ridge Warren won the $13,698 feature, a fillies and mares conditioned pace, at Tioga Downs on Friday, May 11.
Race favourite No Cigar Tony (Mike Merton) went right to the front as Frondeur, the 5-2 second choice, followed right in the two-hole through fractions of :26.4, :56 and 1:24.2. As they made the turn for home, Frondeur popped the pocket and wore down No Cigar Tony to win by a neck in 1:54.4, with Prairie Magical (Jim Taggert Jr.) up within a half length for third.
Frondeur is a four-year-old homebred mare by A Rocknroll Dance, owned by Shim Racing and trained by Erv Miller. She recorded her second (consecutive) win from three starts this year and returned $7.50 to her backers for a $2 win ticket. Frondeur now has a half dozen victories lifetime with more than $100,000 in earnings.
