Shooting Brooke ($4.20) was the dominant damsel in Buffalo Raceway's $14,247 pace for the ladies on a gorgeous Wednesday afternoon (May 1) as she posted a convincing 4-1/4-length win over Manasquan Beach in a seasonal best 1:54.2.
Sent off as the favourite from the rail, Shooting Brooke (Joseph Chindano Jr.) relinquished the early lead to Miss Rockadali (Jim Morrill Jr.) but wasted little time in retaking the top. Rolling through splits of 28.2, :57 and 1:25.2, Shooting Brooke enjoyed a four-length advantage turning for home.
There weren't any anxious moments down the stretch as Shooting Brooke showed she was the best with a :29 last panel, which allowed her to stroll away to the easy win. Manasquan Beach (Kyle Swift) rallied to collect the place position with Miss Rockadali holding on for third.
Owned and trained by Maggie Chindano, Shooting Brooke (Straight Shooting-Fox Valley Brooke) earned her third victory in six attempts this year. The six-year-old mare has now put $23,447 in the bank this season and $128,626 lifetime.
Wednesday was a good afternoon for Joseph Chindano Jr. as well as 18-year-old driver Kyle Swift as they each picked up a driving triple. Jim Morrill Jr. and David McNeight III each had two scores in the sulky. Maggie Chindano completed the afternoon with two training victories.
Racing returns on Friday, May 3 at 2:30 p.m. with a 10-race card. Also, Buffalo Raceway's post time for the live 10-race program on Saturday, May 4 will be at 2:30 p.m. instead of the usual 6 p.m. start in order for the track to accommodate the festivities for running of the Kentucky Derby in Louisville, Kentucky.
