David Hamm and Evm Racing's Lous Beach was an upset winner in the $30,405 Open Handicap Pace at Harrington Raceway on Monday, April 8, opening night of the track's 78th year of racing.

Driven by Jim Morand, the five-year-old Sweet Lou gelding rode the rail throughout and surged down the passing lane in the stretch to emerge a narrow winner in 1:52.4 over Mack and Trojan Banner N. He returned $39.80 for a $2 win ticket.

Lous Beach was recently acquired by his current connections and moved to the Delaware circuit after spending most of the winter at Yonkers Raceway in New York. He is now trained by Chuck Crissman Jr.

Tony Morgan had four wins on the opening card, including a pair for trainer Bart Bradley. Morand and Art Stafford Jr. each had a triple.  Pat Berry and Ross Wolfenden each had a double.

Live harness racing will continue on a Monday through Wednesday schedule, with post time at 4:30 p.m.
