With wins last season at The Raceway at Western Fair District and Flamboro Downs, E L Love chalked up her first-over win on the WEG circuit and she picked up a new lifetime mark of 1:59.4 in the process for trainer/driver Riina Rekila.
The regally-bred daughter of Yankee Glide, out of the Garland Lobell mare Courtney Hall - a full-sister to the Grand Circuit star Cameron Hall (1:53.4 - $2,138,787), led the field to the quarter pole in :30 before being treated to a two-hole trip through middle panels of 1:02 and 1:31.4 over a track rated ‘sloppy’ with a one-second variant. Rekila angled her charge out of the pocket in the lane and used a :27.4 final quarter to win by 1-1/4 lengths over Amityville Lindy.
Erkki Laakkonen of Helsinki, Finland bred and owns the heavily-staked E L Love, who is a full-sister to speedballs Appomattox (1:52.2 - $488,566) and E L Rock (1:53.4 - $302,350).
