With Ron Pierce driving, Bags Of Money sped to a 1:52.4 victory in Monday’s $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) Three-Year-Old Filly Pace Final at Dover Downs.

After getting away sixth in the field of eight Delaware-sired fillies, Pierce moved to the outside and proceeded up after race-favourite Inittowinafortune with Tim Tetrick, who also had just pulled out of third heading to the clubhouse turn. Inittowinafortune quickly took the lead from early leader KJs Caroline reined by Vic Kirby. Tetrick’s filly then had to stave off challengers. On mid-backstretch, it was a Bier-brothers battle with Daryl’s three-year-off holding off Women Rule handled by his sibling Sean.

Turning for home, Inittowinafortune had a short lead with challengers fanning out Bags Of Stars was coming on three-wide as the field headed down the lane and got by the leader in deep stretch to score his third consecutive victory. KJs Caroline was still strong taking third with a second Ben Stafford-trained starter, Blush With Pride (Ben Stafford, Jr.) fourth.

Bred and owned by Joel and Diane Halpern, Bags Of Stars is a daughter of Roddys Bags Again-CB Star. It was her sixth career win to go with six second-place finishes and now has earned $130,025 in fourteen races.

A $20,000 DSBF consolation was won by Norma Messick and trainer Timmy Torbert’s homebred Friendsnheartbeat in 1:54.2. Eddie Davis, Jr., struggling with a heavy cold, was winning driver, one of his three wins during the program. Ally Wishes (Tony Morgan) was second. Little Miss B (Ross Wolfenden) took third.
