Meet leading driver Simon Allard and trainer Rene Allard were a force to be reckoned with on Sunday evening at Rideau Carleton Raceway as the brothers teamed up to win five of the 15 programmed races, including a pair of April Showers Series divisions

The Allards reeled off three wins in a row in races two through five, including the opening $7,500 divisions of the April Showers Series with Perfekjenlmnkalfas ($2.60) in 1:55.3 and Arch Villain ($3.60) just one-fifth of second slower. In between those dashes, Gd Airliner ($2.50) delivered for the duo in 1:54.2. Roburascal N ($3.50) then won the seventh race in 1:54 and trotter Chips Shadow ($5.80) won the ninth in 1:58. Simon also drove the Sebastien Quesnel-trained Dervish Hanover ($6.80) for a 1:55.3 sixth score in the finale.
Ted McDonald also enjoyed a successful night driving three winners -- one of his own and two for conditioner John MacMillan -- including Russ Moulton Memorial Series champion Talk Back ($8.80) in the other April Showers eighth race division. The winning time was 1:55 flat.
The April Showers Series is for male pacers that are non-winners of $30,000 lifetime as of Dec. 31, 2011.
