The wins keep piling up for Brawn Seelster, who visited the winner’s circle for the sixth time this season following a Tuesday triumph in the $16,500 Preferred Trot
at Kawartha Downs.
It was the 39th lifetime score for the seven-year-old son of Berndt Hanover, who hangs his harness bag in the stable of veteran trainer Callie Rankin. Rankin, who shares ownership on Brawn Seelster with partner Jeff Goreski of Richmond Hill, ON, guided the gelding to a 1:59.3 victory in today’s main event at the Fraserville oval.
Rankin and Brawn Seelster slipped into the three-hole while Mystic Conquest sliced out early panels of :29.3 and :59.2. Brawn Seelster was out and rolling past the mid-way point, and a powerful backstretch brush earned him a short lead over Mystic Conquest at the three-quarter pole in 1:29.2.
A :30.1 final frame is all it took for Brawn Seelster to earn the win. He won by a little more than a length over a hard-closing Admirals Quest, who took home the runner-up award. Mystic Conquest faded to finish third.
To date, Brawn Seelster has stashed away more than $415,000 in lifetime earnings.
