
Jodie Cullen’s stable continued its hot streak at Flamboro Downs, notching a training triple on Sunday, April 6.
Daisy Oathwaite ($7.70) delivered an impressive last-to-first rally to earn her maiden victory, stopping the clock in 2:00 flat and winning by a nose. The three-year-old All Bets Off-Connie Mach filly is owned by Ken Hofacker of Campbellville, Ont. The win came in just her third career start and pushed her earnings to $3,750.
In the very next race, Granite Beach ($4.30) led every step of the way en route to a wire-to-wire score in 1:55.3, drawing off by 1-1/2 lengths. The five-year-old gelded son of Sunshine Beach-April May Dune is owned by Grace Marshman of Campbellcroft, Ont., and A1stable of Dundas, Ont. Sunday’s win marked his third of the season and 15th overall, boosting his 2024 earnings to $20,400 and career total to $74,438.
Royal Tell ($2.10) capped off the Cullen hat trick with a grinding trip in Race 11. After sitting a pocket trip early, she was shuffled to third before tipping out and advancing first up around the final turn. The five-year-old Tellitlikeitis-GT Miss Royal mare surged late to win by half a length in 1:56.3. Owned by A1stable of Dundas, Ont., Royal Tell now has four wins this year and 14 lifetime, with $26,750 in seasonal earnings and a career bankroll of $109,926.
Jodie Cullen, the current leading trainer at Flamboro Downs, continues to build on her dominant campaign. She now tops the local standings with 34 wins and $193,380 in earnings. Nationally, she also leads all Canadian trainers with 75 wins and $838,679 in seasonal earnings to date.
