Anders Bluestone Wins Another Open

Fresh off a victory in Dover Downs' Open Trot last week, Anders Bluestone surged to the top down the backstretch in Friday afternoon's $35,000 Open at Harrah's Chester and cruised to his second straight win

The Eric Ell trainee got away sixth from post five with Ron Pierce in the bike while outside post eight assignee Equity and Anthony Morgan worked to establish the lead at the :27.3 opening quarter mark over Neighsay Hanover and Andy Miller.

Neighsay Hanover moved back out for the retake and went head-to-head with the leading 44-1 shot as they raced to the half in :56.2. However, Neighsay Hanover broke stride causing interference to the favoured Fountainbleau Volo and David Miller, who had moved second over. Fountainbleau Volo subsequently broke stride.

Meanwhile, Anders Bluestone moved underway from the backfield and began to pick off horses. He blew by the early leader, reaching three-quarters in 1:25.3, and then drew off for the two length triumph in 1:53.4. Looking Hanover and Yannick Gingras came in second off a three-hole trip while the Tim Tetrick-driven Lolique rallied wide from the backfield to show.

Anders Bluestone paid $5 to win as the 3-2 second choice. The Yankee Glide-Annette Hanover trotter has won six of his nine Open starts this year to earn more than $85,000 for co-owners Kenneth Wood and William Dittmar Jr. Lifetime, the six-year-old has won 27 races and amassed over $700,000 in purse earnings.
