A probable contender on the Grand Circuit stakes scene this season, three-year-old pacing colt Fourever Boy made his 2022 qualifying debut this morning (April 5) at The Meadows.
Sent to the lead from the outside post six by regular driver Mike Wilder, Fourever Boy clocked panels of :30, :59.1 and 1:28.1 before kicking home in :27.3 for the 1-1/4-length victory in 1:55.4. Ron Burke-trained sophomores Loukes Perry and filly Yes And Yes closed from the back to finish second and third, respectively.
Trainer Tim Twaddle and Micki Rae Stables co-own the Sweet Lou-Macharoundtheclock colt, who won a division of the Arden Downs Stakes in 1:53.2 at The Meadows and had five other top three finishes from 13 rookie starts for more than $230,000 in earnings. In his lone Canadian appearance, he finished third in the Metro Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park. His other top three stakes finishes were in the Matron, International Stallion Stakes and Pennsylvania Sire Stakes Championship.
Fourever Boy is one of 61 sophomores nominated to the 2022 Pepsi North America Cup at Mohawk.
The fastest mile of the morning session was a 1:53.4 win courtesy of 2021 Betsy Ross runner-up Snobbytown, making the second qualifying start of her six-year-old campaign for trainer Ron Burke.
