Alleigh Girl and Da Boss, both trained by Les Givens and co-owned by Nanticoke Racing, scored impressively to take both $20,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund second-leg sophomore filly trot preliminaries on Thursday at Dover Downs
.
As expected, prohibitive favourite Alleigh Girl won her $20,000 DSBF prelim with ease for driver Ross Wolfenden. She stopped the teletimer in a career-best clocking of 1:58.4. Delbert Cain and Nanticoke Racing own the Don Boss Vita-Armbro Odalisk sophomore. Les Givens trains the nine-time winner who pushed her lifetime earnings to $146,440 with the win. Jodi Lin (Justin Vincent) rolled home second with Scuttlebutt (Vic Kirby) finishing third.
The other Givens-trainee racing for Bob Wyatt and Nanticoke Racing, Da Boss Lady, a daughter of Don Boss Vita-Rompaway Ruth, pulled Jim Morand to an even faster clocking, 1:58.1, to win the other $20,000 DSBF division. Commitment To Win (Roger Plante) was next. JAs Charmer (John Wagner) was the show horse.
The top eight-point getters return for $100,000 DSBF finals which are slated each day next week.
