Order By Commander brushed three-wide down the backstretch to take the lead and ultimately secure his first victory for his new connections in the $7,500 Preferred 3 Trot featured at Flamboro Downs on Saturday night.
Driver Robert Shepherd worked out the winning trip for trainer Craig Yates and owners Frank Lamacchia, Guy Polillo and Wayne Deserres. Order By Commander was making his second Preferred 3 start for his current ownership group, who claimed him on March 22 for $13,000 at Woodbine Racetrack.
Driving up from post eight, Dreamfair Bogart overtook Coco Bino during the :28.2 first quarter and proceeded to the half in :58. Meanwhile, Shepherd and Order By Commander followed Incredable Frank's cover before fanning wide around him and moving ahead at the 1:28.1 third quarter mark. Order By Commander quickly cleared to command around the final turn and trotted home to score the 1:58.2 victory by one and a quarter lengths. Torches Angel followed Order By Commander's winning move and came on for second while Coco Bino finished third.
Sent postward as the 8-5 favourite, Order By Commander paid $5.30 to win.
The five-year-old Muscles Yankee gelding earned his ninth career win and lifted his bankroll to $116,532.
