A pair of winning streak were kept alive at Woodbine Racetrack on Monday evening, with Define The World completing a hat trick and Jolts Virtue pushing
his winning streak to five in a row.
Define The World marched to the top and successfully threw down fractions of :27.2, :56.1 and 1:24.4 en route to a comfortable victory over Frenchfrysnvinegar in 1:54.4. Third prize in the $35,000 Preferred event went to Rose Run Hooligan.
Sent off as the 2-1 favourite, the six-year-old, homebred son of Duke Of York-Venice Holiday improved his 2011 record to 4-1-1 in eight tries for trainer John Bax. Al Libfeld of Pickering, ON bred and owns the 28-time winner who has stashed away earnings in excess of $1.4 million.
Jolts Virtue notched back-to-back wins at Rideau Carleton Raceway to kick off the month of March and he followed up those victories with a pair of tallies at Kawartha Downs to wrap up the month of March. In his Woodbine debut, he pushed the winning streak to five-in-a-row for trainer John MacMillan, who co-owns the pacer with Chelsea Knapp of Prescott, ON.
Gord Brown rolled the three-year-old son of Village Jolt-Arts Virtue to the lead and sliced out panels of :27.1, :56.3 and 1:24.2 en route to the half-length win over Machal Jackson in 1:55.
The colt, who was winless in two starts as a rookie, improved his 2011 record to 5-1-0 in eight starts while bumping his bankroll to $25,900.
