The third annual Standardbreds Forever Day at Northlands Park hit a new level on Saturday
.
A total of $151,930 was wagered on the 10-race card - making it the highest harness racing handle in Edmonton in two years. "Everybody thought it was fantastic," said Orianna Scheck to thehorses.com, who co-produced the event with the Northlands Park marketing department.
"Everyone was really excited. I got a lot of compliments from the drivers - there was a significant amount more people today than at any point in the meet.
"There were so many kids - and that was great (to see them) up on the railing and cheering."
This edition of Standardbreds Forever Day honoured 2004 Alberta Horse of the Year Disagreement and featured a powder puff exhibition race, won by Katie Graham.
