Two-time Governor's Plate winner Outlawpositivcharg, with Terry Gallant in the bike, won the Saturday night feature at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park while making his 2011 debut
for owner Fred Lamont of Calgary, Alberta. The time of the mile was 1:58.3.
Gallant committed to leave the gate when the wings folded but Matt Trapper, with Brian Andrew driving, also decided to charge to the front. The field was stacked up four high into the first turn so Gallant shifted to Plan B and backed off to fifth on route to the opening quarter. Matt Trapper battled to the top and stopped the timer at the opening quarter in a stiff :28.3 seconds.
Matt Trapper rolled through a half of :59.1 before Outlawpositivcharg took command of the race down the backstretch on route to the three-quarter pole in 1:29.2. Blue Star Outlaw and Jason Hughes, who was followed their cover, coasted through the stretch for second. Life Savior finished third for Marc Campbell but judges set him back to fourth for interference on Instant Fancy, driven by Mark Bradley. The call shifted Instant Fancy to third triggering a $114.40 triactor.
It was the second winner of the night for Gallant after engineering a triumph aboard Lamont's new stable entry Howdidchado in the fifth race.
Outlawpositivcharg, a seven-year-old Blissfull Hall-Electromagnetic gelding, now boatss 36 wins and $138,028 in earnings on his lifetime record.
