Stakes star Warrawee Needy resurfaced Thursday morning at Pocono Downs for trainer Mark Ford, who watched the speedster post a 1:53 qualifying victory.
Warrawee Needy, who last raced in the TVG Series Final at The Meadowlands on November 30, 2013, sat second through first-half fractions of :28.1 and :58 before taking command at the three-quarter pole in 1:25.3. The five-year-old son of E Dees Cam-Great Memories used a :27.2 closing fraction to win by a pair of lengths.
Ford co-owns the 20-time winner with Robert Di Nozzi, Dave Shea and Carl Jamieson. The gelding has banked $1,118,169 to date.
