Heres My Ticket won the first of three $20,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund Three-Year-Old Filly pace prelims while Two Cam and Macs Journey won the other two to lead the qualifiers for next Tuesday’s $100,000 finals.
Bay Pond Racing’s Freedom Crossing closed in better than :27.4 along the passing lane to win for the first time since January in a lifetime best 1:51.3 in the $27,500 top distaff event of the week. It was Ron Pierce’s third of four wins. The Artiscape-Bunker To Bunker five-year-old trained by Wayne Givens boosted her career earnings to $212,891. Mystra (Brad Hanners) was second with Mach Lady (Vic Kirby) third.
In $20,000 DSBF prelims, Ross Wolfenden drove Heres My Ticket to a 1:52.3 victory in the fastest division. Eli Scott, bred, owns and trains the Three Olives-Real Elegance filly. She now has two wins in four starts with a second and a third this year. Joyanna (Ben Stafford, Jr.) saw her two-race win streak end with a second. Designer Bags (Allan Davis) finished third.
Two Cam, who was sent off at 7-1, had a perfect seat behind leader Roddys Girl (Vince Copeland) before overtaking the leader in the late going for a1:55 victory in a second $20,000 DSBF prelim. Brad Hanners picked up his second win driving the Cams Fortune–Kams Legacy sophomore for Jim and Joe Skowyra. Roddys Girl was followed by Grix Gadoo (Vic Kirby).
Mike Gannon’s Macs Journey won his second straight $20,000 DSBF prelim and third in-a-row this year registering a 1:54.4 score in the third filly division. Mary Martin bred and owns the Badlands Hanover-Macs Only Iris distaff driven to success by Sean Bier for trainer Crissy Bier. Powerful Honey (Roger Plante) finished second ending a two-race win streak. Seboomook Hooter (Allan Davis) was the show finisher.
